Mr. Mantis is a minor character in Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends, the children's schoolteacher.
Biography[]
Mr. Mantis is a wise California praying mantis who runs the Sunny Patch schoolhouse. He teaches Squirt, Shimmer, Dragon, Bounce and his other students about various aspects of bug life. Mr. Mantis plays a major role in several episodes, such as Master Mantis, and makes many cameo appearances throughout the show. In the TV movie, he was a priest rather than a teacher. His role was changed in order to comply with Teletoon and Nickelodeon's preschool standards.

Mr. Mantis is mostly a dark green color. He has two large, yellow eyes and wears a pair of small glasses with brown frames. He has long arms and antennae.

Mr. Mantis first appeared in the TV movie Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Kids. His first official appearance was in the episode Something's Stinky in Sunny Patch. He also appeared in Master Mantis, Wiggle's Squiggles, Dashing Through the Snow, Family Tree, Happy Heartwood Day, Sing It Sister, Top O'Big Tree, Bug Talk, Bug-Versity, and The Prince, the Princess and the Bee. His final appearance was in Cob Fog.
